Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Skilled Nursing Facility
Reports To: Nursing Supervisor
Job Summary: Will supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing personnel in performing effective resident care on the designated tour of duty.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1.Evaluates staffing needs on the given shift and plans daily staff assignments.
2.Transcribes, verifies and implements physician’s orders.
3.Collaborates with staff in developing appropriate plan of care, assesses needs and performs physical assessment of residents.
4.Makes regular rounds to assure resident care, environmental safety and employee performance.
5.Prepares and distributes meds, starts and monitors I.V.s and performs treatments, CPR; collects blood samples and performs EKG’s as ordered by physician.
6.Reports significant changes in condition to physician, supervisor and family
7.Acts as a role model and resource for staff; assists staff as appropriate.
8.Counsels and/or disciplines CNAs per facility policy.
9.Documents episodic events on residents as well as completing all pertinent documentation, including checking MARs, Treatment Sheets and Monthly Summaries
10.Attends a minimum of 24 hours of education and/or CEUs annually, including mandatory in-services. Certified in CPR. Attends 8 of 12 staff meetings yearly
11.Responds in patient, courteous and cooperative manner to residents, staff and public
12.Performs all other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
Ability to organize, write and communicate clearly; verbal ability in giving accurate instructions to personnel, families, and residents, make decisions, must have a residents’ genuine interest in understanding and caring for the aging adult. Licensed as Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia. Good mental and physical health, and judgment, and a desire to work with the elderly. Experience in geriatric nursing.
Work requires standing and walking for all or most of the workday. Sitting, reaching, handling items, and feeling are required for at least half the workday. Stooping, kneeling and crouching are required infrequently. Must be able to lift and carry an average of ten pounds and pull weight of up to twenty-five pounds. Intact sense of sight, hearing, touch and smell are required. Exposed to infection and odor, dealing with diverse behaviors. May be responsible for assembling and dismantling medical equipment.
