Full Time Inpatient Opportunity for Advanced Practice Provider
Position: Critical Care Management Day Shift 6:30am -6:30 pm 7days on 7days off
Our Clients Practice Associate with offices in Orange City, Lake Mary and Oviedo is in search of a Pulmonary/ Critical Care advanced practice provider to care for our diverse patient population. The ideal candidate would have had exposure to Pulmonary/ Critical Care whether as an RN or preferably experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/ PA)
The Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/ Physician Assistant, in collaboration and consultation with physicians Care Coordinators, staff RNs and other health care professionals, provides compassionate care to patients and families. The APRN/ PA practices within the context of collaborative management with a physician(s) in diagnosing, managing, and preventing acute and chronic illness and disease, and promoting wellness.
Qualification:
- Graduate of accredited nurse practitioner program with a master’s degree and board certification
- Graduate of accredited physician assistant program
- APRN license in the state of Florid
- Maintains current ACLS and BLS certifications
- One year of critical care experience in an APP role for APRN/Physician Assistants
Responsibilities
- Provides inpatient management, consultations, and co-management of critically ill patients under physician supervision.
- Possesses specialized skill and knowledge unique to the ICU setting.
- Provides direct clinical services for critically ill patients according to established protocols.
- Obtains comprehensive and focused history and physical exams on critically ill patients.
- Evaluates critically ill complex patients in the ICU and step-down units.
- Orders and schedules appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies.
- Works with supervising physician to determine and place appropriate specialty consultation
- Performs complex procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical problems.
- Acts on behalf of the supervising medical staff member in medical emergencies.
- Interprets arterial blood gas reports and manages mechanical ventilation.
- Assesses need for vasoactive medication and places appropriate order sets.
- Interprets radiographic tests and operates with a high degree of independence.
- Performs emergent lifesaving procedures in critical situations.
- Conducts daily rounds independently.
- Notifies attending physicians about unusual or unexpected events.
- Initiates necessary emergent interventions to stabilize acutely deteriorating patients.
- Prescribes medication using evidence-based medicine and clinical judgment.
- Documents patient progress notes, consult notes, and clinical resumes.
- Explain procedures or tests to patients and their families
- Provides family-centered care and education as needed.
Requirements:
- One year of critical care / pulmonary care experience for patients with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions highly preferred
- APRN license State of Florida
- Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
